Dr. Michael F. Motala

A lawyer, legal scholar, political economist, and entrepreneur who graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, Columbia University, the London School of Economics, and Trinity College, Toronto, before teaching law at Stanford Law School, Dr. Motala has earned a reputation for business savvy and legal excellence. Dr. Motala has represented clients in matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Ontario Association of Architects, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and University Administrations. His practice focuses on civil litigation, landlord and tenant law, wrongful termination, human rights, commercial disputes, business law, finance, technology, and professional and criminal defence, and he is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.

Michael’s* practice leverages over a decade of combined experience in the private sector, government, academia, and private legal practice. He was called to the bar in 2020, completed his Articles of Clerkship at Franklin Templeton Investments, and has worked and/or taught at Columbia Law School, Stanford Law School, at the Ontario Securities Commission, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada, BMO Financial Group, the Canadian High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom, and the University of Toronto School of Public Policy & Governance.
